welcome to my blog... here i will attempt to update you on my life.
i am a singer/songwriter based in philadelphia. i just released my debut ep of five original songs, "sleep like the world." it was recorded at turtle studios in old city, philadelphia. i worked on it from november of '09 to may 2010, and released it july 17th. the release show was at broad street ministry, a beautiful church in center city philly and the turn out far exceeded my expectations. we had about 200 come out in support and sold a bunch of eps. i performed about 15 songs on a beautiful grand piano and had my good friends join me on a few!
i'm in the process right now of building my website, www.joshschurr.com, which currently links to my myspace music site. soon i'll have a really nice, clean site that will sort of be a hub of all news, tour dates, and updates for fans.
i've realized in the past few months how much work comes with releasing an album. there is so much promotion and so many meetings and phone calls, trying to work at a cafe and write songs on the side! my minds spinning...
i am constantly attempting to find the balance, and always hoping to be able to support myself musically so i don't need the second job. but living in a city and trying to pay rent, buy food, pay for health insurance, etc. is really not possible unless i have a solid income. and so i continue to work and build myself up, and hope that i find a group of people who are touched by what they hear. i know what music does for me, and i hope that i can be that for someone else.
i will continue to update everyone on the ins and outs of the craziness.
